Sunday School, Youth Service and Instruction
R. Ames, Chairperson
At Rosedale, we have Sunday School classes for pre-school age through adult. Children learn lessons each week that coincide with the readings we use in church as well as learning the Lord’s Prayer and other lessons we use in worship. Our Christian Education team works together on the following functions each year: Awarding Bibles to our second graders, Halloween party, Christmas Eve stockings, Easter Egg Hunt, and Ascension Sunday bubbles.
Youth in third through sixth grades assist in worship by serving as acolytes. Many of these children also participate as members of the Chapel Choir which sings in worship about ounce a month. During the children’s sermon in the 10:30AM worship service the youth are able to come forward and participate in a short discussion at which time they may bring a donation which is called the “Kids for Kids” offering. This offering is used to help other less fortunate children in the community and around the world.
Our Youth Catechetical Program leading to Confirmation usually involves those in grades seven and eight. The young people discuss topics such as doctrine, the Christian life, worship, and formation of the Bible. We invariably look into matters relevant to the youth and their times. Opportunities for the older youth to serve the church include assisting as greeters, crucifers, and readers.
