Could
you help?
The
2009 Deficit
Thanks
to your committed giving, we have greatly reduced our 2009
Deficit.
In
round numbers, we have paid down this debt we owe to ourselves
by 75%. That is
certainly good and great news, but it also means that we must
complete the task and fund fully the remaining 25%.
Starting
in June we will be running a campaign over the summer months
to finish paying this debt, but one need not wait until that
time. If you wish
to assist with paying down this debt now, simply place your
giving in an envelope and mark your giving number and “2009
Debt” on the outside.Certainly,
it is also important to remind us all to keep our General 2010
Giving Up To Date!!
Pictures Needed
The
Board of Christian Education is asking the congregation for
help. We would like copies of pictures of our church events
such as Advent, Easter Egg Hunt, dinners, musicals…or groups
like the choir, handbells, church school children…or even
Baptisms, and the sanctuary at Christmas. We would like the
pictures to be a good, clear photo. Please email them to our
church office.

General
Information:
Consistory
Moves
Your
Consistory has made the following moves in order to fill slots
left vacant by the untimely death of D.Reinert.
D.Schlott has agreed to complete Doug’s term as an
Elder, and B.Reeser was then elected to complete David’s
term as a Deacon. B.Coller
has graciously agreed to fill the spot left vacant on the
Endowment Committee.
Surplus Table
If you have extra
vegetables or fruit from your gardens, please bring them for
our surplus table in the back of the sanctuary. People may
then buy them by leaving a donation for the Greater Berks Food
Bank. Share your abundance and help others to eat.
Baptismal Waters
Remember to collect
water on your vacation this summer to add to our Baptismal
Water. Fill a small container and bring it to church on the
designated Sunday in September.
Choir Spotlight
See
the baby pictures of our choir members in the summer spotlight
showcase! The display case is inside the ramp door on the
sanctuary level. See if you can match the baby pictures to our
current choir members.
Altar
Flowers
For
quite some time we were unhappy with the altar flowers our
previous florist was giving us.
Many in the congregation complained, and the product
appeared to deteriorate over the years.
There were also problems with billing, flowers not
being there, and a general dissatisfaction with what we were
seeing.
Lent,
when we do not have flowers in worship, gave us a time to
think again on this matter.
The Worship Committee did some research, and beginning
with Easter, we have decided to use Country Greenery at
3522 Kutztown Road
, here in Laureldale.
Our initial interactions with this florist have all
been positive, and we have been pleased with the flowers for
the first three weeks.
The
new cost for both vases is $42.00.
The sign-up sheet for the altar flowers is in the
Ridgeway Vestibule, behind the door to the left of the Pulpit.
There are several Sundays still open, and thus we still
need your sponsorship!!
Open
Dates For Altar Flowers
July
4, August 22 & 29, and December 5, 12, & 19 are all
open dates for sponsoring altar flowers. If you are
interested, please sign the list in the Ridgeway stairwell or
call the church office.
Knitters
The
Knitters continue to meet in the Youth Room on Tuesdays, at
6:30 PM. Crocheters and stitchers or craft makers are also
welcome! You can also come and learn to knit or crochet.
Prayer
Chain
If
you would like prayers for someone, call B. Bankes or P. Hoyt
to start the prayer chain. This is a phone chain and is in
addition to the prayer list in the bulletin.
Rosedale
Readers
It’s
time to begin a new cycle of the Rosedale Readers. If you are
interested in being part of the Rosedale Readers, please
choose a recently published hardcover book and give the title
and author’s name to the church office by
August 23. We will then begin passing books on Sept. 5 (or
as close to that Sunday as possible with Labor Day being on
9/6). Check with the office before purchasing a book to be
sure no one else has chosen that book.
If you are new to the Rosedale Readers, the idea of our
group is to purchase and read one new hardcover book. Then, on
the designated day, you will pass your book to the first
person on your list, and you will receive someone else’s new
book to read. Each month you receive a new book and eventually
you will receive your book back at the end of the cycle.
Remember, August 23 is the deadline to join!
In
the Hospital?
If you or a member of your family is hospitalized, please
notify the church office.
