Conference News

Discussions have been initiated regarding merging of the four conferences in Pennsylvania into one. Delegates to the PSEC fall meeting on November 9th will vote on this important decision. If you have questions about what this means for Rosedale UCC and the Covenant Association, please contact Pastor Selina.

What Is OCWM?

Missions

Rosedale reaches out to help others in many ways.

Through the One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) special mission offering, the United Church of Christ collaborates with domestic and international partners to support humanitarian aid and sustainable development, bringing needed assistance to communities in need of long-term recovery and economic sustainability. Gifts to OGHS also provide much-needed resources to assist our partners in providing clean water, food, education, health care, small business micro-credit, emergency relief, advocacy, and resettlement for refugees.

OCWM (Our Church’s Wider Mission) encourages and supports local churches, Associations, Conferences, and the national expressions of the United Church of Christ to participate in the global, multiracial, multicultural church and to support United Church of Christ ministries around the world and the nation.

Strengthen the Church (STC) Offering reflects the shared commitment of people across the United Church of Christ to cooperatively build up the UCC. Conferences and the national setting equally share the gifts given by members and friends through their local congregations. The funds raised support leadership development, new churches, youth ministry, and innovation in existing congregations.

Neighbors in Need (NIN) is a special mission offering of the United Church of Christ that supports ministries of justice and compassion in the United States.

The Christmas Fund has been caring for active and retired clergy and lay employees of the United Church of Christ for over 100 years, providing emergency grants, supplementation of small annuities and health premiums, and Christmas “Thank You” gift checks each December to our lower-income retirees.

With our All Saints Offering we celebrate long ago saints and those known to us as saints. These offerings are contributed to the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference (PSEC) and are used to supplement the cost of retired pastors’ health benefits.

Locally we support the Muhlenberg Churches Food Pantry which distributes food the third Thursday of each month in Muhlenberg Township. We also support the local Food Bank, Helping Harvest, which supports all of the local food pantries in the area.

We support various local programs including:  local hospitals by providing Jared boxes, Mary’s Shelter, Veterans Making a Difference, Bethany Children’s Home, the local Animal Rescue League, Students Experiencing Homelessness, and Women in Crisis.

Rosedale UCC is a member of the Covenant  Association, which supports the local churches in Berks county by offering funding of local church missions, disaster relief, scholarships and other assistance to members-in-discernment, counseling and spiritual development services to ministers.

Community Aid:

The Women’s Guild will be collecting items to be donated to Community Aid. We are looking for clothes, blankets, bedspreads, small household items, shoes in good condition. We will NOT accept furniture. Any items that you have can be placed in the rear of the nursery and once we have enough we will take them to Community Aid. You can still take items to Community Aid on your own, but, if it is easier to bring them to church we will accept them here as well. (When you are filling bags, please be mindful of how much the bag weighs, as it is hard for us “experienced” women to lift if the bags are too heavy).
